Sothya

The true beginning of this band know as "Sothya" began in the fall of 2000.  Isaac Sulzle, Robert Simons & James Durkin (the first of Sothya drummers) shared mutual passions for music and expressed that through regular jammin sessions at any garage or hall they could find.

They chose the name "Sothya" after seeing this unique candle purchased from an Indian shop.  It had Sathya with an "A" written on the side, however it looked like Sothya with an "O", so that's how they spelled it and decided to keep it that way.  They felt it to be a unique word and decided it sounded good as a band name.  Finding out later that Sathya (with an "A") means "Truth" in Hindu only reinforced the idea.  None of the band are members of the hindu religion, but they believe the word fits them so it has stuck.

After high school James joined the Marines which left Isaac and Robert seeking a new drummer.  A mutual friend introduced Isaac to Guitar player and singer Dan Kramer in the spring of 2001.  Dan brought along a drummer friend named Jesse Hodges.  With the formation of new members the band decided to change the name to "Hoodman Blind". During this time Isaac & Robert were honing their skills playing shows at college frat parties, a local club and jammin on a regular basis.

By April of 2002, Isaac & Robert again found themselves in the frustrating spot of a band without a drummer.  After holding several auditions for new drummers they decided on Chris Berry.  An experienced drummer who displayed incredible skills and a unique style that blended well with the sound they were developing.

During this time Isaac & Robert were busy producing their first album of songs called "Shades of Blue".  The album showed the songwriting promise of Isaac who continues to develop his song writing skills.

Adding beloved long time high school friend, the talented poet and keyboardist Ginger Boyes, (who also added lyrics on "Shades of Blue") to the band seem to put the final touch on what looked to be a band on the climb.  Kicking things off with a benefit show that brought a large crowd and playing several shows over the next 6 months the band was recieving praise everywhere they went.

Suddenly, all things came to a hault when Isaac's long time friend and music soul mate Robert, decided to call it quits.  Soon after Isaac's beloved friend Ginger decided to throw in the towel.

Feeling a bit rejected, Isaac still felt this was what he was meant to do, so he began looking for replacements.  Not long after, bassist Jon Dennison and Keboardist and guitarist Brent Brown joined "Sothya" and they continued playing shows throughout Nebraska & Iowa.

By April of 2004, Chris was dealing with an illness that prevented him from continuing on as the drummer.  Jamie Schleglmilch, a co-worker and friend of Brents joined the band as the 4th drummer.  Continuing to play and develop, the band began to take shape with Isaac finding himself more and more in the drivers' seat.  With his strong guitar playing skills combined with his songwriting and vocal skills, Isaac began to build strong confidence in his future as a performing artist.

In Feburary of 2005 Isaac again lost his band members.  Finding himself alone as an artist, Isaac began to weigh his options and look for new opportunities.

Suddenly, as if touched by an Angel, Isaac recieved a gift when both Robert and Chris came back into Isaac's life.  Coincidently, as if by fate, they both came into Isaac's life at the same moment in time without any contact with each other or with Isaac.  With his newly reunited band, Club owners, Sothya fans and critics are saying, "WOW! this is the best band Isaac has assembled by far".  As a result they reformed "Sothya" to be what it was always meant to be.  A GOOD BAND FULL OF SOUL AND PASSION FOR WHAT IT IS WE CALL MUSIC.  Today, this band known as "Sothya" has made a giant step towards being the band it was always intended to be.  REAL, PASSIONATE, FUN, INSPIRING, ENERGETIC AND SELF CONFIDENT!

With developed skills and a sense of purpose, Isaac, Robert and Chris are moving foward with a feeling of determination and purpose.  Look for more from "Sothya" as they take this journey to this place we call. .....MUSIC!!.
